NICKI

PRACTICE MANAGER

Nicki first joined Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort when she was 17 years old, as a kennel attendant in 1974. The next year, she took on the role of receptionist and was an integral member of the veterinary hospital staff for the next decade.

Nicki returned to Eagle Animal Hospital as practice manager in August of 2002.

Nicki oversees the operations of the hospital and keeps the animal care team working together at all times. She handles accounts payable and receivable, payroll, administrative support, customer service, and human resources. She holds an Associate’s degree in business from Maple Woods Community College.

Nicki most enjoys the relationships she has developed with clients and staff and the wonderful pets and people she has met. “We have caring and compassionate people in the veterinary profession,” she says.

At home, Nicki enjoys watching movies, reading, and spending quality time with her family.

Stephanie

STEPHANIE

HOSPITAL MANAGER

Stephanie's journey with the Eagle team began in 2007, where she joined as a skilled technician. Her passion for animal care ignited during her high school years where she volunteered in kennels at a local veterinary practice in her home town of Lansing, KS. She started working as a receptionist/assistant for the same practice following graduation. Stephanie relocated to West Virginia with her husband, where she continue her career, but transitioned to a skilled technician, driven by her dedication to assisting patients. After returning to the Kansas City area, Stephanie continued her education at Maple Woods Community College, earning an associate degree in Business, further enriching her skill set. Stephanie dedication and expertise led her to the management team in 2022, marking her ongoing commitment and growth within the Eagle family.

Stephanie shares, “Eagle Animal Hospital is unlike any other veterinary hospital I’ve worked at,” she says. “The veterinarians and staff are truly passionate about their work and invested in the clients and their pets, which makes me a proud to be a part of the team!” 

When she is not at work, Stephanie enjoys spending time with her husband, family, and friends. They have two children who attend college at Northwest and the University of Missouri. Now that their children are older, she hopes to do a lot more traveling in their free time. They have 3 dogs, Tilly the Shihpoo, Ruby the Cockapoo, and Poppy the Cavalier King Charles Spaniel. They also have a cat named KitKat.

RENEE

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Renee joined our team in January of 2001—transitioning from kennel staff, to receptionist, to veterinary assistant, and then registered veterinary technician in 2005. She earned her Associate’s degree in veterinary technology from Maple Woods Community College.

Renee’s  pet care duties include monitoring anesthesia, assisting with radiology and surgery, dentistry, drawing and running lab work, placing catheters and bandages, wound care, and client education. She prides herself on being patient and calm during stressful situations. We consider Renee as Eagle’s Best Phlebotomist.

“Working at Eagle, I can assure our clients that each and every animal that walks in the door gets treated as if they were one of our own pets.”

When she’s not working, Renee likes being with her husband and two children. The family has a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel named Ari, a Pit Bull named Jax, and two sibling cats, Hulk and Princess Marshmellow.

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Jo graduated from Maple Woods Community College with an Associate’s degree in veterinary technology in 2006. Now a registered veterinary technician in Missouri, she joined our team in March of 2002. Her responsibilities include providing care to our hospitalized patients, assisting with surgery, radiology, pet dentistry, laboratory diagnostics, bandage placement, and client education.

“I love getting to be directly involved in our patients’ care and see them through their time here,” she says. “I feel lucky to work with a group of people that get along so well and enjoy hanging out after work.” Jo has an Pit Bull named Nora and cat named Ralphie. She enjoys horseback riding, traveling, and spending time with friends and family.

CAROL

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Carol joined Eagle Animal Hospital & Pet Resort’s team in 2010. She has worked as a kennel assistant, pet daycare manager, and veterinary assistant before deciding to go back to school to become a registered technician. Carol’s responsibilities include assisting the veterinarians with procedures and patient care, surgery and anesthetic monitoring, dentistry, bandage care,  and phlebotomy. She also teaches yoga at In Bliss Yoga.

“My favorite aspects of this job are anesthesia monitoring and phlebotomy. But the people I work with make this the best job in the world,” she says.

Carol holds an A.A.S. degree in Veterinary Technology from Maple Woods and a Bachelor’s degree in animal science with a minor in captive wild animal management from the University of Missouri. She also interned as a zookeeper at Dickerson Park Zoo during the summer of 2012.

At home, Carol cares for a Morkie named Minnie and a terrier mix named Elphaba. Carol also has a cat named Flapjack, that she adopted while attending the veterinary technician program at Maple Woods. She spends her free time doing ashtanga yoga and is an advocate for body positivity and eating disorder recovery. She also ushers at her church on Saturday evenings and loves “all things Star Wars.”

Rachel B

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

We welcomed Rachel back to Eagle Animal Hospital August 2022. She began here in high school as a kennel assistant in 2008. Rachel attended the veterinary program at Maple Woods and graduated in 2014. She has 8 years of surgical, emergency, and critical care experience working at other clinics in the area, including the University of Missouri Veterinary Health Center. Some of her responsibilities at Eagle include monitoring anesthesia, phlebotomy, radiology, dentistry, client education, and assisting the veterinarians.

Rachel loves learning new things and is a great mentor. She enjoys monitoring anesthesia, orthopedic surgeries, and client education. She shares, “I love the teamwork and variety of people that work at Eagle. I know the animals are given the best possible care every time we see them!”

In Rachel’s free time you will find her attending every Chiefs home games. She loves EVERYTHING Chiefs. Rachel also tries to attend as many days of training camp as she can and travel to away games. Her goal is to see the Chiefs play every NFL team in their home stadium. Rachel has an Australian Cattle Dog named Mabel, three cats: Minnow, Earl, and Huck, a Cockatiel named Pete, a Timneh African Grey named Kayla, and three freshwater tanks.

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Rachel joined the Eagle team in May 2023. She came to us with over 7 years of experience. Rachel started her career volunteering in shelters and kennels while she attended the Maple Woods Veterinary program. She became a licensed technician in 2016. Rachel always has a positive attitude and makes the day fun. She is responsible for assisting our doctors in surgery, patient recovery, animal husbandry, and client communications. She enjoys monitoring anesthesia and educating clients.

“I enjoy helping client’s pets feel better and seeing the change in the pet when they are reunited with their family.”

At home, Rachel enjoys spending time with her daughter and family. They do a lot of outdoor activities to include swimming, fishing, traveling, and playing with their dog. Rachel has a Golden Retriever named Rylee.

Alyssa

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

We welcomed Alyssa, a California native, to the Eagle team June 2022. She joined our team with 9 years of experience at an emergency/surgical practice. Alyssa completed a veterinary technician program through Veterinary Allied Staff Education. Some of her responsibilities here include vaccinating pets, wound treatments, anesthesia administration and monitoring, caring for hospitalized patients.

Alyssa is very calm in high stress situations which makes her an asset for emergency care here at Eagle. She connects with patients and keeps them relaxed. Alyssa enjoys phlebotomy and anesthesia and can adapt to whatever is needed. “Eagle is a very fast paced hospital and is very diverse. It is unlike a lot of other general practices in the variety of different services and procedures offered. It makes each day unique and interesting!”

In Alyssa’s free time she enjoys playing the piano for relaxation. She is an avid golf player and enjoys baking. Alyssa has a Pitbull named Ronan and is fostering a Pitbull through KC Pet Project named Dozer.

VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Liz is a dedicated veterinary technician who joined the Eagle team in October 2018. Originally from Colorado, she made the move to the Kansas City area with several years of experience as an assistant under her belt.  Liz brings a wealth of knowledge and expertise to her role at Eagle. Liz's educational background includes a Bachelor's degree in Science for Ecology & Evolutionary Biology, which she obtained in Colorado. As a technician at Eagle, Liz takes on a variety of responsibilities. She excels in performing phlebotomy procedures, monitoring patients while they are under anesthesia, and aiding in the recovery process after surgeries. Among her various tasks, Liz finds particular joy in performing dental cleanings and closely monitoring surgical procedures. Her calm and peaceful demeanor helps to put nervous patients at ease, ensuring a positive experience for both the animals and their owners.

Liz is always ready and willing to lend a helping hand to her coworkers. Liz's unwavering dedication to providing compassionate care, and her willingness to learn and grow make her an invaluable member of the Eagle team. She shares, “I love the opportunity to grow and learn. The kindness of the staff and mentality at Eagle stands out from anywhere else.”

Outside of work, Liz has a diverse range of interests. She finds solace in gardening, appreciating the beauty of nature and nurturing plants. She also enjoys fishing. Recently, Liz has embarked on an exciting new adventure as she delves into beekeeping, starting her own hive. Her love for animals extends beyond her professional life, as she shares her home with a Beagle Mix named Lily and two cats, Susan and Bear.

REGISTERED VETERINARY TECHNICIAN

Anita is a Registered Veterinary Technician and a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer. She is available to perform echocardiogram at Eagle Animal Hospital. Anita received her veterinary technician degree from Maple Woods Veterinary Technology Program. Her cardiac sonographer certification was obtained from the University Of Kansas Medical Center. Echocardiograms obtained by Anita are sent to Dr. Christiansen, one of Kansas City’s Board Certified Veterinary Cardiologist for interpretation. Final reports are sent back to your veterinarian at Eagle without having to take your pet anywhere else.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

We welcomed Carly to our team in March 2020. Carly comes to Eagle with 3 years veterinary related experience as a kennel attendant and as a veterinary assistant.  She has also spent time volunteering her time for an animal shelter. Carly is a student at Metropolitan Community College and as applied for the Veterinary Technician Program at Maple Woods for the Fall of 2020. Some of Carly’s responsibilities as an assistant at Eagle are, feeding and medicated hospitalized patients, helping recover patients after surgery, assisting the technicians and doctors, and most importantly helping your pet feel comfortable and stress free. Carly will be attending the Maple Woods Veterinary Program staring the Fall of 2021

Carly brings a positive attitude, a love of learning and helping others, and a kind heart. When asked what the best part of her job was Carly shares, “The best part of my job is being able to assist the veterinarians and technicians in procedures and all the learning opportunities. I especially enjoy phlebotomy.”

“I love the positive environment, my co-workers, and the variety of the things we get to see every day here at Eagle.”

Carly has two cats, Joe a black domestic shorthair and Tina a brown domestic longhair cat. In her free time she enjoys spending time with her fiancé, family and friends. She enjoys tennis, golf, swimming, going on walks, fishing, boating, camping, and hiking.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

We welcomed Claire to our team in February, 2022. Claire started volunteering in 2015. She has worked as an animal care attendant and a kennel assistant. In 2021, Claire moved to Kansas City and worked as a veterinary assistant before coming to Eagle Animal Hospital. Some of her responsibilities at Eagle include restraining animals for exams and other procedures, administering medications, caring for hospitalized pets, gathering and preparing samples for laboratory tests.

Claire is very empathetic when it comes to animals and always gives the best care possible. “My favorite part of being a veterinary assistant is being involved in the process of healing and animal and actively seeing the results of them recovering.” She plans to continue her education at the veterinary technician program at Maple Woods.

“I love working at Eagle because the veterinarians and supporting staff truly give each pet the same quality and gentle care, they would give their own pets. I also like the variety of patients and clientele that see. It makes every day so different and exciting.”

Outside of work, Claire enjoys spending her free time painting and drawing, watching movies, cooking, going on hikes, and being with loved ones. Claire has a Silky Terrier named Hazel, 2 African dwarf frogs named Leonard & Pebble, a Betta fish named Ned, and a snail named Clementine.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Dawn joined the Eagle Team in December 2022. She came to us with over 6 years of experience in emergency medicine. Some of Dawn’s duties include holding pets for the doctors, drawing up vaccinations, running lab tests, phlebotomy, cleaning, and caring for the patients. She has been a great advocate for all our patients.

“The best part of my job is definitely the puppy and kitten cuddles!”

Outside of Eagle, Dawn works more! She likes to fill up her free time keeping herself occupied. She has two cats, Sir Captain Bay and Rooster Booster.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

Bella joined the Eagle team January 2023. She came with over 3 years veterinary assistant experience. At Eagle, she is responsible for assisting the doctors with patients, taking xrays, drawing blood, running bloodwork/urine labs, and reading ear cytologies. Bella is hoping to start a veterinary technician program soon.

“Helping make a difference in the well being of our furry friends is why I chose to become a veterinary assistant.” Bella is great at remaining calm in high stress situations. She cares for each animal as if they were her own.

Bella shares, “Everyone at Eagle works so well together as a team. There is so many opportunities for developing as an assistant and technician.”

In Bella’s free time, she enjoys spending time with friends and family, shopping, cooking, and trying new recipes. She also enjoys paddle boarding and working out…and lazy days in sweats. Bell has a ShihTzu Reece, and a Penelope a dilute calico. She also has two dogs at her mom’s and brings them to visit all the time.

VETERINARY ASSISTANT

We welcomed Alexis to our team January 2023. She has been in the veterinary field since 2019 starting as a kennel technician. As an assistant, Alexis cares for hospitalized pets walking and cleaning up after them, stocks supplies, help hold patients for the technicians and doctors, and draw blood for heartworm tests.

Alexis shares she has always been very curious and loves to learn new skills. She is very easy going and brings a positive attitude to her day. “I love working at Eagle. Everyone is so nice and kind. I’m always eager to learn. I love to be able to care for animals and I love the bond it creates.”

In Alexis’ free time she enjoys being outside and hiking with her Boston Terrier mix, Luna. She also has a Siamese named D’artagnan.

We welcomed Kacy to the Eagle team August 2022. She came with previous veterinary receptionist experience and has been a great addition to our client care team. As a receptionist at Eagle, Kacy schedules appointments, surgery, and boarding. She is the friendly voice you hear on the phone. She greets clients and checks them out at dismissal.

Kacy is great at keeping our receptionists organized and working as a team. She shares, “I love the relationship we build with our clients and their pets here at Eagle. All the staff is very friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. I love that we are able to offer walk-ins to our clients as well.”

In Kacy’s free time, she enjoys spending time with her family, grilling, shopping, watching movies, and traveling. She has a German Shepherd named Emmitt and an orange Tabby named Ryno.

Kindall joined the Eagle team September 2022. This is her first job in the animal care field. You will find Kindal greeting owners and their pets, answering phones, scheduling appointments, and helping wherever it is needed.

When asked what your favorite part of your job is, Kindall shares, “I get to learn something new every day! I love how everyone at Eagle works as a team. Being viewed as a valued employee goes a long way. I also enjoy the wonderful relationships between our front staff and owners!”

In Kindall’s free time, she enjoys spending time with family and friends. She enjoys reading, shopping, Halloween, Nascar, and the Chiefs. You can always find a coffee in Kindall’s hand and a smile on her face. Kindall has two dogs. Poppy and Beagle/Schnauzer mix and Clark a Soft coated Wheaton Terrier. She also has a cat named Indy.

We welcomed Kel to our team in December 2022. She came to us with previous veterinary receptionist experience. As a receptionist at Eagle, she is responsible for answering phones, making appointments, and setting up boarding reservations. Kel fit in quickly with our team and is always willing to learn some thing new. “Eagle is a team. It’s easy to like your job when you have great coworkers. The doctors are super kind and always help answer questions.”

Kel is great at comforting our clients and their pets through difficult decisions. She tries to brighten everyone’s day with her positive attitude. Kel shares, “The best part of my job is meeting new people and building relationships with clients!”

Outside of work, Kel enjoys reading. She and her husband spend most of their free time remodeling their first home. Her favorite hobby is baking sweets for their friends and family. They have two dogs, Leonard a white Lab and Rudie a hound mix.

We welcomed Joanie to the Eagle team in May 2023. She came to Eagle with over 2 years of experience as a veterinary receptionist. Joanie answers phones, greets clients when they come into our hospital, schedules appointments, checks out patients, and helps us stay organized. She attended and received a bachelor's degree at Cameron University in Lawton, Oklahoma.

Joanie is a friendly face at the front desk. She shares the best part of her job is creating relationships with our clients and seeing pets get great care!  “Everyone I work with is so great. The vets truly give the best care, and everyone truly wants to do the best for all the kiddos that come through the door!

In Joanie’s free time she enjoys off-roading, volleyball, watching her nephews play baseball, going to a good winery or brewery, and best of all…snuggling with her dogs! She has an Australian Cattle dog named Millie and a Lab/Rottweiler mix named Bob.

We welcomed Jessica to the Eagle team June 2023. Jessica has been employed in the animal-related field for five years. Before becoming a receptionist, she worked as a veterinary assistant and inventory manager at an equine hospital. Prior to that, she interned under a equine breeding specialist and shadowed an animal chiropractor. Jessica graduated from Truman State University with a Bachelor of Science in Argricultural Science in 2016. At Eagle, Jessica’s responsibilities include assisting clients with check-in and check-out, answering phone calls, and ensuring that clients' questions are directed to the appropriate personnel.
Jessica brings a positive personality and empathy to Eagle, especially during challenging moments, as a fellow pet parent herself. Her strong organizational skills help her contribute effectively to the clinic or hospital. “I particularly enjoy the face-to-face interactions with clients, where I can offer assistance and support to meet their needs.” She likes to assist as many pet owners as possible through helpful advice and tips.
“I have enjoyed working at Eagle. From the very beginning, I felt welcomed, and the veterinary professionals and staff have truly impressed me with their dedication to delivering top-notch care for pets and their families."
Jessica has two huskies named Skie and Sage and two horses named Itty and Belle. She loves spending time with her husband and daughter. Jessica loves to play and read books with her daughter Ember. She also enjoys spending time with her pets, horseback riding, cooking, baking, and reading, and kayaking.

RACHEL

KENNEL DIRECTOR

Rachel joined the Eagle Animal Hospital team in August of 1990. Boasting nearly three decades of experience working as a kennel attendant and then director, she is skilled at gaining the trust of fearful or anxious dogs via calm and assertive handling. In addition to serving as a shift supervisor for our five kennel assistants, Rachel also assists with walks, baths, feeding, administering medications, and cleaning—anything to maintain the “overall health of (our) boarding animals.”

When it comes to choosing her favorite part of the job, Rachel says she likes it all. “I enjoy caring for dogs and cats and all that entails,” she says. “My family has been going to Eagle for fifty years.”

At home Rachel has four cats (Moth, Ginger, Screamy Dan, and Dozer) and a miniature Dachshund named Missy. She enjoys weightlifting, hiking, bird watching, studying insects, and shooting. She also loves baseball.
