Registered Veterinary Technician; Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner

Shannon

Shannon first joined our team in 2005, as a kennel assistant, while attending high school She continued working at Eagle as an assistant while attended the Veterinary Technology program at Maple Woods. Shannon graduated from the program in 2010. She has been a team member for over 10 years, leaving for a few years to explore the field in 2015 and returned to Eagle, July 2020.

Shannon is a registered technician, licensed in Missouri, and is a Certified Veterinary Pain Practitioner. This certification requires 90 hours of pain specific CE, providing skills related to pain management (nerve blocks, manual therapies, rehab techniques, anatomy knowledge). To obtain this certification her studies had to be signed off by another CVPP, she needed 3 letters and recommendation from CVPPs and/or diplomate of an AVMA specialty, and had to pass a very extensive testing process.

Some of Shannon’s day to day responsibilities include assisting the veterinarians, performing diagnostics, surgery, and dentistry. We are looking forward to utilizing her skills and knowledge as a CVPP in the practice as well!! She has been certified Fear Free in the past and applies those techniques to the care of our patients.  When asked what makes Eagle unique from other hospitals, she shares, “I love that we get to continue learning new techniques/procedures to create the best possible experience and medical care for our patients while giving us the opportunity to grow.”
